The MMD Group welcomes MEP Elena Nevado Del Campo (EPP, Spain)
6 February 2025
The MMD Group is delighted to welcome Member of the European Parliament (MEP) Elena Nevado Del Campo as a new member. MEP Nevado Del Campo serves as a Vice-Chair of the Delegation to the Euro-Latin American Parliamentary Assembly (DLAT) and is a member of the Delegation for relations with the countries of Central America, including the EU-Central America Association Parliamentary Committee (DCAM). She is also a member of the Committee on Public Health (SANT) and the Committee on Regional Development (REGI) as well as a substitute member of the Committee on Transport and Tourism (TRAN), Committee on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality (FEMM) and Committee on Petitions (PETI).
Before her election in June 2024, MEP Nevado Del Campo was a member of the city council of Cáceres from 2007 to 2015, serving as mayor from 2011. She was also a senator from 2011 to 2015 and a member of the Assembly of Extremadura from 2019 to 2024.
As part of her new role in the European Parliament, MEP Nevado Del Campo is strongly committed to co-creating with citizens person-centred EU health policies. Integrated and person-centred healthcare policies are essential to improving health outcomes, enhancing people’s quality of life, and ensuring that their needs are properly addressed.
Diabetes is a hugely complex disease which requires 24/7 management. PwD need to make constant decisions regarding food, physical activity, and medication, often with limited input from healthcare professionals (HCPs). Empowering and engaging PwD is key to enabling them to manage their condition effectively and improve their overall well-being. When empowered, PwD are better equipped to take an active role in their care, set priorities, and make informed decisions.
We look forward to working with MEP Nevado Del Campo to ensure that citizens, particularly PwD, are at the heart of EU health policy development.
